EVERETT — We’re in the midst of the Christmas concert season, and four performances this weekend promise to provide a variety of seasonal music.
Pacifica Chamber Orchestra has as one of its missions an outreach program in local schools. Recently, director Fred Chu and other orchestra members visited with and performed for students at Hawthorne Elementary School in Everett.
For a public concert of its music, attend Pacifica’s Christmas Concert Sunday afternoon in the beautiful sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church.
“Our Christmas concert is an exciting one,” Chu said. “This year, we will be performing music by composers from very different time periods and parts of the world, including Austria, Italy, Russia and the United States.”
The program includes Giulio Briccialdi’s “Wind Quintet No. 1,” Franz Schubert’s “Five German Dances for Strings,” Amy Beach’s “Pastorale for Wind Quintet” and the “String Sextet in A Major” by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
“And then, as is our tradition, a reception follows the concert, so the audience and the musicians can mingle and share the holiday harmony,” Chu said.
Pacifica Chamber Orchestra performs at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Tickets are $20 for general admission or $15 seniors and students. Tickets are available at the door or in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com.

Mill Creek Chorale performs its Christmas concert at 3 p.m. and then again at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at Advent Lutheran Church, 4306 132nd St. SE, Mill Creek.
This is Mill Creek Chorale’s third annual holiday celebration concert. With the title “What Sweeter Music: A Holiday Celebration” the concert will include sacred and secular Christmas music.
The program includes “Go Tell it On The Mountain,” “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy,” “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night.”
The 60-voice adult chorale, directed by Sean Berg, will be joined by the Mill Creek Children’s Chorus and the Vivace choir from Cascade High School.
Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 for students and seniors. Discounted tickets are available at http://millcreekchorale.bpt.me. Children 10 and under are admitted free.

Everett Chorale’s “Songs and Stories of Christmas” is its annual holiday concert, to be presented at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 and 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.
The program includes a sentimental medley of Christmas tunes from Broadway, Alfred Burt’s contemporary carols, Brian Peterson’s “In Sweet Jubilation” and John Rutter’s “Brother Heinrich’s Christmas.”
Chorale director Lee Mathews is a fan and perpetual student of Rutter’s music, so the piece is sure to be the highlight of the concert.
The program also includes the Snohomish County Youth Chorus.
Tickets are $20. Call the box office at 425-257-8600.
The Stanwood-Camano Chorale, under the direction of Steven Jensen, will present a Christmas concert, “Carols of Hope and Light,” at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at Stanwood United Methodist Church, 27128 102nd Dr. NW. Donations will be accepted.
The community chorus will be joined by the vocal ensemble Trouvere for its winter concert, which promises to be a mood setter for the Christmas season.
