Archbishop Murphy football player Anfernee Gurley has said that he has given a verbal commitment to play at Eastern Washington University.

Gurley made the announcement on his Twitter page Sunday.

“It has been a life long dream of mine to play college football,” he wrote. “It has been a long ride and I am very grateful for the immense amount of support I received from my family, my coaches, and my teammates. I would like to thank all the schools that have recruited me throughout this long process. After a lot of thought, I’m proud to announce that I am committing to Eastern Washington University.”

Gurley, a wide receiver/defensive back, was named as the 2016 Cascade Conference Offense Co-Most Valuable Player after tallying 583 receiving yards, 437 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He was also a first-team all-conference selection on defense and was a dangerous kick returner, recording three return touchdowns.

The Wildcats completed an unbeaten season earlier this month with a victory over Liberty in the 2A state championship game.
