Teens from the Henry M. Jackson High School chapter of DeMolay of Marysville, a Masonic fraternal group for young men ages 12-21, raised more than $1,100 at a pancake breakfast on Nov. 20 to help homeless teens served by Cocoon House in Everett.
Washington Masonic Charities, the charitable arm of the Freemasons of Washington, chipped in $2,400 more after the teens surpassed their goal, bringing the total donation to $3,500.
The DeMolay teens started the pancake breakfast last year, intending to adopt a family and then raising enough to adopt two families. This year they decided to focus on their peers. In all, 10 student volunteers helped 75 teens at Cocoon House.
