Public and nonprofit agencies working on projects to boost tourism in Everett can apply for grant money. The funding comes from the city’s tax on hotel and motel room stays.
Applications are available by contacting the Everett City Council offices, 2930 Wetmore Ave. Suite 9A in downtown Everett, or online through the city’s website. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the City Clerk’s Office located on the first floor of the Wall Street Building, 2930 Wetmore Ave.

Looking for fair themes: The Evergreen State Fair has a theme for 2017, but organizers already are rounding up ideas for next year.
The most recent theme was “Fun for the Whole Herd” and the theme planned for this year is “Harvest the Memories.” Exhibitors are encouraged to use the theme in their displays and activities during the fair, from Aug. 24 to Sept. 4.
Anyone with an idea for a theme can submit suggestions for the 2018 fair. Send ideas to EvergreenFair@gmail.com by Jan. 26. The email should include the theme, a description of how it relates to the fair, how it could be used, possible color schemes and the sender’s name and contact information. A sketch or picture that shows the theme is optional.
