EDMONDS — A fire started on the stove in an Edmonds townhouse early Friday morning.
Two men woke up to smoke alarms around 3 a.m. A fire had broken out in a nearby townhouse in the 7400 block of 212th Street SW, according to a Fire District 1 press release. It was part of a seven-unit complex.
No one was hurt.
The men went door-to-door waking people and escorting them out safely.
A family of six living in the townhouse that caught fire later told an investigator their smoke alarm did go off, but sounded muffled.
Firefighters contained the flames to the unit. The fire caused more than $100,000 in damage, district spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. The family did not have insurance.
The American Red Cross of Snohomish County and Support 7 with Fire District 1 are helping the family find alternative housing.
Investigators determined the fire was an accident.
