South End String Band: Bring your dancing shoes to this concert by the Camano Island-based band at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27103 102nd Ave. NW, Stanwood. Suggested donation is $15. Proceeds benefit the Stanwood Area Historical Society. Snacks provided.
Wingtergrass Preview: The annual Wintergrass (mostly bluegrass) Music Festival (Feb. 23-26) in Bellevue attracts musicians from around the world. Get a free preview of the fest at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Edmonds Plaza Room, 650 Main St., above the Edmonds Library. Everett Music Initiative: The lineup for the Fisherman’s Village Music Festival will be announced at a concert at 8 p.m. Feb. 10, at the Scuttlebutt Brewing Co. Taproom, 3310 Cedar St., Everett. Cascade Symphony Orchestra: The annual concert for young people (and the young at heart) is 3 p.m. Feb. 11 at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. The concert is “The Tortoise &The Hare.” Dave Dolacky is back as the narrator. The concert also includes a performance by the popular Cascade Percussion Ensemble. Organ recital series at Trinity: Lynwood’s Trinity Lutheran Church resumes its popular organ recital series featuring Paul Thornock, director of music at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, in concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the church, 6215 196th St. SW. Blues and Brews Thursdays: Marysville Kiwanis Club joins the city in offering blues music and brews from a local microbrewery from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursdays at the Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St.; 360-363-8400. $5 at the door. The entertainment continues with the Margaret Wilder Band on Feb. 16 and the Gin Joints on March 16.

Hot Java, Cool Jazz: The annual concert by Starbucks, featuring some of the region’s most talented young jazz musicians, is set for 7 p.m. March 17 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. Sno-King Community Chorale: The chorale, along with a children’s choir and orchestra, will present the West Coast premiere of Sir Karl Jenkins “Cantata Memoria — For the Children,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1966 disaster that killed 116 children when a coal mine slid into a school in Aberfan, South Wales. The concert is to be presented at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. March 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St., Lynnwood.
