Work related to King County’s North Creek Interceptor Sewer Improvement project will again close 14th Drive SE, in a Bothell area neighborhood, for about two months.

The road is set for closure in the 20300 block from Feb. 22 to April 28, with a possible extension through May, according to Snohomish County Public Works, which issued a permit for the closure. The road also will be closed to emergency vehicles and school buses. A detour will be posted.

Contractors have been repairing and replacing a 2-mile section of the pipeline that has served the Bothell area since 1970, and had been showing its age.

At the north end of the project, in unincorporated Snohomish County, the work involved ramming new pipe under North Creek. A new contractor will dig a 20-foot pit to connect that new line to an existing pipeline, built in 2009, along 14th Drive.

The work is expected to take six to eight weeks, said Logan Harris, a King County spokesman. “Work will include temporary paving and restoration to open the road back up when done. The county then plans to go back when the weather gets warmer to complete the final paving and restoration,” he said.

King County began construction on the project in early 2015. The entire pipeline project is expected to wrap up this year.
