The Opponent

The Spokane Chiefs (25-27-6-3, 59 points) invade Xfinity Arena for the final time tonight. The Chiefs have dropped three straight and all but assured of missing the postseason. The Tips have a 3-1-1-1 mark in the season series while Spokane is 3-2-1-0. The Chiefs a young team that has at times given the Tips fits. Spokane’s 4-3 come-from-behind shootout win at Everett on Jan. 22 was the first of seven straight winless games for the Tips.

Players to Watch

No. 4 Ty Smith (D): The No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 WHL bantam draft, the native of Lloydminster, Alberta, has four goals and 22 assists as a rookie.

No. 9 Keanu Yamamoto (F): The Spokane native has 23 goals and 37 assists as an overager.

No. 11 Jarret Anderson-Dolan (F): A top NHL draft prospect projected to go in the first two rounds, Anderson-Dolan has 33 goals and 32 assists.

No. 17 Kailer Yamamoto (F): The diminutive younger brother of Keanu is 13th in the WHL in scoring with 35 goals and 42 assists. He’s projected as a first-round pick in this year’s NHL draft.

No. 26 Hudson Elynuik (F): The younger brother of former Silvertip Campbell, and the son of former nine-year NHL veteran Pat, Hudson Elynuik has 22 goals and 37 assists. He was a third-round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2016 NHL draft.
