1. Dazzling dahlias

Like your flowers big and showy?

Dahlias are for you.

Those giant bursts of flowers light up the garden like the sky on the Fourth of July.

Learn about dahlias and get tubers at the Snohomish County Dahlia Society Tuber Sale, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 23 at Legion Hall at Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett.

Can’t make it or want more? The society is having another plant sale from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 29 at Stocker Farms, 10622 Airport Way, Snohomish.

Society members will be on hand to help and answer questions.

2. Ribbit-ing

Save the Frogs Day is 1 to 3 p.m. April 29 at Willow Creek Hatchery, 95 Pine St., Edmonds.

3. Monte Cristo Award

Go ahead. Tell on your neighbors.

Nominate Everett’s homes and businesses for a Monte Cristo Award in four categories: Rejuvenation and transformation. Pride of the neighborhood. Neighborhood-friendly business. Green gardening (for environmentally friendly landscaping).

Recipients receive a Monte Cristo Award plaque. Find nomination forms at Everett Library branches, the city of Everett office lobby in the Wall Street Building, the PUD, at local home improvement stores and through neighborhood associations.
