Alden’s Army 5K
A fundraiser for the Hemispherectomy Foundation, a nonprofit that helps patients and families of patients who have undergone a hemispherectomy or similar brain surgery, is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday starting at Granite Falls Middle School. The fundraiser is named for Alden Bernate, a Granite Falls Middle School student who had a hemispherectomy 12 years ago to stop dangerous seizures. Alzheimer’s talk: Christine Louie, education coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Association of Washington, will outline the 10 warning signs of the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, focusing on early detection and diagnosis, during a talk scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the main branch of the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.
