Boy dies after iron gate falls on him near Mukilteo church

MUKILTEO — An 8-year-old boy was killed Thursday when an iron gate fell on him outside a Mukilteo church.

The accident was reported about 4:30 p.m. at the Sulamita Slavic Church on Evergreen Drive, off Cyrus Way.

The boy died at the scene, said Brian McMahan, the Mukilteo assistant fire chief.

The gate was part of a large wrought iron fence, McMahan said. The boy is believed to be from Snohomish County.

Additional information was not immediately available.
