Harvest some fun in Darrington
A Harvest Festival is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mansford Grange, 1265 Railroad Ave., Darrington. Kids can carve pumpkins and make whimsical “garden critters” from leftover vegetables. Share favorite recipes for fall and winter meals, and get tips on preserving the last of summer’s bounty.

Kids make dragsters

The State Archives’ Puget Sound Regional Branch in Bellevue hosts a free workshop, “The Basics of Historical Research,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pritchard-Fleming Building on the Bellevue College campus, 3000 Landerholm Circle SE. Learn about research sources and how to use them. Registration requested.

Bulb Fest in Everett
The Evergreen Arboretum holds Bulb Fest, noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Learn how to plant spring flowering bulbs at this family event, then take home a box of bulbs for your garden. Tools and snacks provided. An Arboretum membership is required ($20 for individuals, $35 for families).

Sign up for CERT refresher classes
Marysville and the Marysville Fire District offer free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) refresher classes.
A class on light search and rescue operations is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Fire Station 62.
A class on disaster medical operations, first aid and CPR is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 4 at Fire Station 66.
Class participants must live or work in Marysville and have completed CERT training in the past five years. Applications are at www.marysvillewa.gov/758/CERT.
