TEDxSnoIsleLibraries is today
Sno-Isle Libraries holds its annual TEDx event, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Kamiak High School. Several library branches also host live-stream events. Seating at each venue must be reserved. A live video of the lectures also will be posted on the Sno-Isle Libraries website.

Homeschool group shows movie
Trestle Homeschool Association holds a viewing of “Class Dismissed,” a film about homeschooling and unschooling, followed by a Q-and-A, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St. Tickets are $10, $5 for kids, to help cover the costs of the theater rental and movie licensing fees.

Talk focuses on media bias
The University of Washington’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute offers a free presentation on “Understanding Media Bias: How We Read, See, and Hear the News” with retired UW professor Mike Knapp, at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo.

Pet pics with Santa
CASA, the Camano Animal Shelter Association, holds its annual Pictures with Santa event Nov. 11 at the Skagit Farmers Country Store in Stanwood. Bring your family and pets to the store between 10 a.m. and noon or 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. For $20, get a CD with four different photos. All proceeds benefit CASA.

Gray whales talk
Learn more about gray whales and their history along our coastlines at “Gray Whales of Puget Sound,” 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N East Camano Drive, Camano Island. Cindy Hansen of the Orca Network will discuss the biology and behavior of the whales and their role in the ecosystem. This is a free Camano Wildlife Habitat Project event, sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks.

Thanksgiving dinners

Westgate Chapel in Edmonds holds a free Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 23. Seatings are at 11 a.m. and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Enjoy a traditional turkey dinner, served family style. The event also includes entertainment, drawings, kids activities, bingo, family photos, a food and clothing bank and more.
