EVERETT — An alleged home intruder who was shot and nearly killed in Mountlake Terrace in 2016 hasn’t been making his court dates.

Said B. Osman, 29, has a warrant for his arrest. However, he’s in federal immigration custody, officials said.

In August 2016, Osman allegedly broke into a home in Mountlake Terrace armed with a crochet hook. He and a friend were accused of targeting her uncle, who was known to keep guns.

A confrontation broke out, and the uncle shot Osman in the chest. Police decided not to seek charges against the uncle.

Osman survived the gunshot wound, likely because of the efforts of an Edmonds police officer, documents show.

Officer Jason Robinson found Osman on his back in the street. He cut away Osman’s shirt and applied a special dressing for treating chest wounds. The dressing came from a trauma kit on his duty belt.

At one point, Osman quit breathing. Robinson performed CPR until Osman got a pulse again and the firefighters arrived.

Robinson later received an award for meritorious service for his actions.

Osman spent months receiving inpatient care for his injuries. For a while, it was unclear whether he would be able to answer to the allegations against him. He was charged with burglary in December 2016. Since then, he’s posted bond several times.

Osman has five felony convictions in King County, including two for burglary. He has spent time in state prison and remains under corrections supervision. He also is a registered sex offender for a conviction of assault with sexual motivation.

The pending Snohomish County court case has led to several arrest warrants for Osman this year, most recently in October. A November trial was canceled as a result. His attorney declined to comment for this story.
