It wasn’t much of a contest on the mat, but in terms of wrestling brotherhood and goodwill, Friday’s freestyle exhibition dual between Japan’s Junior National team and a squad of local all-stars at Everett High School will be remembered for some time.

The Japanese dominated the dual, as their American counterparts struggled to even score a point during the action.

The event wasn’t about wins and losses, though.

Everett wrestling coach Brien Elliott, who co-managed the event with Oak Harbor coach Larry Falcon, said the time the wrestlers from both countries spent together before and after the match, the laughter and sharing of experiences, was what everyone was really after on Friday.
