Pacifica Chamber Orchestra to perform its Sunshine Concert

EVERETT — The Pacifica Chamber Orchestra knows how to put some light in our life, even in winter.
Its next concert, on Jan. 28, is entitled the “Sunshine Concert.”
“There will be sunshine in the concert hall due to the selection of music we perform,” said Fred Chu, artistic director. “They are all exciting, happy, energetic. In fact, we even include the music of Brazil and Argentina.”
Pacifica, based in Mukilteo, is the only orchestra in the Northwest that focuses on the music composed in the 20th and 21st century, Chu said.
The concert will begin with Serenade for Strings by the Swedish composer, Dag Wiren, which Chu described as “a very peppy and fun piece.”
The concert will include “Suite America” by the Belgian composer Joseph Gilet, who wrote it in 2013; Polka for Wind Quintet by Julius Fuchik; Scherzo for Winds by Eugene Bozza; and Intermezzo to Goyescas by Enrique Granados.
Pacifica Chamber Orchestra is a nonprofit organization that performs five subscription concerts each season in Everett, plus outreach concerts for elementary students throughout Snohomish County.

Tickets are $20 general admission and $15 students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online in advance through Brown Paper Tickets or at the door on concert day, cash and checks only.
