GRANITE FALLS — A parent at Granite Falls Middle School was arrested Thursday for an alleged threat to shoot kids who were bullying his daughter.
Right around the time school ended Wednesday, the father went to the school’s office, Granite Falls Police Chief Christopher Ferreira said.
“If my daughter keeps getting bullied, (I’m) going to come to the school with a gun and take care of the kids (myself),” the father, 34, told staff, according to police reports filed in court. “It’s not a threat. I will come here with a gun. I will take a life sentence for my children.”
After he left, staff locked doors and called police. Hours later, officers found him at home, where signs were posted warning that he had guns.
The man, an Army veteran, said he didn’t actually own a gun because of post-traumatic stress. However, he’d posted pictures of himself with a gun online, according to police. He was booked into jail for investigation of felony harassment.
