Students get back-to-school boost from Rotary

The Alderwood-Terrace Rotary Club recently marked its 15th Back to School Shopping Event. A total of 52 students, from Spruce and Mountlake Terrace elementary schools, used $125 gift cards to buy new clothes and fully stocked backpacks.
The money went farther thanks to special discounts offered by JCPenney at Alderwood mall, which also gave free haircuts to some students.
Rotary members plan for the annual event starting with a December Christmas basket auction. The club meets 7 a.m. Fridays in the cafeteria at Swedish Edmonds, 21601 76th Ave. W. Learn more at alderwoodterracerotary.com.
