Bringing civility back
The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County holds a forum on “Civil Discourse to Heal Democracy,” 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Jackson Center on the Everett Community College campus, 2000 Tower St. A panel of speakers is expected to include representatives from the NAACP, Coalition of Color and other groups. Bob Drewel will facilitate. Conversation in small groups will follow.

All about financial aid
Get help applying for financial aid for college, 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 at Everett Community College (Shuksan Hall), 2000 Tower St. EvCC will host College Goal Washington, a free event that helps participants fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2019-2020. Students must complete the FAFSA to apply for federal financial aid for college.

Try zen-doodling
Learn some “Playful Zentangle” from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W. This is a way of drawing using structured patterns called tangles. The class is for all ages and no drawing experience is needed. Free, but registration required.

The Friends of the Edmonds Library hold a “Read! Recommend! Raffle!” event with prizes including Beats by Dre headphones and Amazon Kindle tablets.
