Christmas in October

2nd Chance Thrift Shop’s annual Everything Christmas Sale is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.

Shelter open house

The Camano Animal Shelter Association will hold a 20th anniversary open house, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 198 Can Ku Road, Camano Island. Tour the shelter and see new dog kennel improvements, as well as visit adoptable animals.

Zombies descend on Snohomish

Zombies and ghouls are invited downtown Snohomish for an annual Zombie Walk, 4 p.m. Saturday. Participants and spectators are asked to bring “rations for the survivors” — food donations to benefit the Snohomish Food Bank. Cash donations also welcome. The food bank truck and staff will be on site starting at 2:30 p.m. to accept donations. Zombies should gather between 3 and 3:30 p.m. at Artisans Mercantile, 117 Glen Ave. The walk is about a half-mile.

Knit caps for Christmas House

A Nifty Knitters workshop to make caps for Christmas House, local hospitals and other causes is set for 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Parish Hall, 330 Union Ave., Snohomish. All ages and experience levels welcome. Instructions provided for using round looms. Materials and refreshments also provided.

Donate socks

Socktoberfest is underway. The annual event will distribute pairs of new, warm adult-size socks to homeless and low-income people at a celebration Oct. 28 at United Church of Christ in downtown Everett. Donate socks at:

Pancakes for a cause

A Norwegian Pancake Breakfast is served 7:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday (and every third Saturday through May) at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE, Lake Stevens. Cost is $6; children under age 4 are free. This month’s proceeds will benefit Hurricane Florence relief efforts through Lutheran World Relief.
