Too much candy? Give it to the troops.

Kids went a little overboard on Halloween? Little Pearls Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics offers a candy buy-back, 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at 1908 201st Place SE, Suite 201, Bothell. One dollar for every pound of candy, up to five pounds. Candy will be donated to Operation Gratitude to be sent in care packages to U.S. military service members.

Write poems from postcards and other found texts, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. No experience required. Registration is encouraged.

Upcoming pancake breakfasts

Edmonds: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Nov. 2 (first Friday) at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave. Pancakes, strawberry compote, eggs, ham, biscuits and sausage gravy, beverages. Cost is $5.

Bothell: 8 to 11 a.m. Nov. 3 and 17 (first and third Saturdays) at the Northshore Senior Center, 10201 E Riverside Drive. Pancakes, eggs, ham (first Saturday) or sausage (third Saturday), coffee or tea, and orange juice. Cost is $5.

Snohomish: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 3 (first Saturday) at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St. Pancakes or French toast, sausage or ham, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and beverages. Cost is $5, $3 for kids age 10 and younger.

Lake Stevens: A Norwegian Pancake Breakfast is served 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 17 (third Saturday, September to May) at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE. Cost is $6; children under age 4 are free.

Monroe: 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 17 (third Saturday) at the Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway. Pancakes or French toast, eggs, ham or sausage, beverages. Cost is $5, $3 under age 12.

WAYS TO HELP

Make blankets for kids in traumatic situations

The Binky Patrol, a group of quilters, knitters and crocheters who make “binkies” for youth in traumatic situations, as well as quilts and blankets for senior citizens, seeks volunteers and donations of fabric, yarn or thread. The group meets next on Sunday (first Sunday, second Sunday if a holiday) in Marysville.

Project Linus also makes quilts and blankets to donate to Snohomish County kids who have experienced traumatic life events. The next Project Linus event is set for 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 13 (second Tuesday) at the Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett, 3025 Lombard Ave. Materials and equipment are provided. Bring a sewing machine if you have one.
