Volunteer event

Learn more about opportunities with the Assistance League of Everett. An introductory event is planned from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 21 at 5107 Evergreen Way, with appetizers and tours. Reservations: 425-252-3011 ext. 113.

Bike bonanza

Join a day of bike-related fun from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at Lynnwood Elementary School. Free helmet-fitting and giveaways, as well as a bike rodeo. Free for kids ages 1 through 18.

Groups help those affected by addiction

Cocaine Anonymous: A nonprofit recovery program for those seeking sobriety or support in staying sober from cocaine and other mind-altering substances. Has groups in Arlington, Edmonds, Everett, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Monroe. More info: www.caofwa.org, 425-244-1150.

Drug abuse family support: Support groups for those affected by someone else’s drug addiction meet in Arlington, Bothell, Everett and Snohomish. More info: www.nar-anon.org.

Al-anon and Alateen: A support group for friends and families who have been affected by someone else’s drinking. Multiple meeting locations in Snohomish County. Find a list on the “Meeting Directory” page at www.dist23.org. More info: 425-348-7828.

Help for MS

Self-help groups for those living with multiple sclerosis are available in Snohomish County.

Edmonds: The MS Sno-Flakes meets 1-2:30 p.m. fourth Thursdays at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St. For people with multiple sclerosis and their family, caregivers and friends. More info: Bill Brayer, 206-718-0894, wbrayer@comcast.net.

Marysville: A National Multiple Sclerosis Society self-help group meets 10:30 a.m. to noon second Saturdays at Cascade Christian Reformed Church, 13908 51st Ave. NE. More info: susanjiam@live.com.

Ostomy support group

The United Ostomy Associations of America, Snohomish County Chapter, meets 1 to 3 p.m. second Mondays (except July and an annual picnic in August) at the Buzz Inn restaurant, 3121 Broadway, Everett. The group’s purpose is to help in the rehabilitation of people with ostomies.

From support groups to dance classes, Parkinson’s disease help available

Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation support groups, for those with Parkinson’s or other forms of dementia and their caregivers, are in Bothell, Everett, Lynnwood and Stanwood.

A movement and dance class to help Parkinson’s patients get control of their movement again is 2 p.m. Thursdays at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave. Classes are $10 members, $12 non-members. Wheelchair and walker friendly. Supporters attend free. Drop-ins welcome.
