Hear from The Herald
Noah Haglund and Rikki King, reporters with The Daily Herald, are scheduled to be on KNKX 88.5 FM radio March 21, talking about the Oso mudslide.
Both reporters covered the 2014 disaster and the ensuing personal loss, scientific inquiry, land use discussions and civil litigation, among other topics.
The radio station’s special is planned around March 22, the five-year mark since the slide. It is scheduled to run from 3 to 6 p.m. and will include voices from attorneys, public officials and survivors.

Trail walk
The Pinehurst/Beverly Park Neighborhood Association invites folks to take a walk down the Interurban Trail for an hour or two to pick up garbage and report on any graffiti markings.
The event will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cascade High School parking lot. Some people will start from the Wetmore Avenue entrance to the trailhead. The gathering is weather-dependent.
“It’ll be a good time to get outside and meet up with your fellow neighbors.” RSVP requested.

Solar meeting
The Snohomish County Public Utility District is providing a final open house to answer questions about the Community Solar program.
It will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with short presentations at 5:30 and 6:15 p.m., at the Lakewood/Smokey Point Library, 3411 169th Place NE, Suite A, Arlington.
Drive better
The AAA Driver Improvement Program is offering its refresher course on defensive driving skills, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 23 at Normanna Lodge, 2725 Oakes Ave., Everett. The course gives practical guidance for crash prevention, driver safety and confidence. Course completion qualifies drivers 55 years of age and over for automobile insurance premium discounts.
Cost is $20. Registration is required.

Help the shelter
A donation drive is running March 20 to May 10 to support Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County. The items are for women who are helped by the shelter. Needs include white towels, pillows, sheets, blankets, robes and toiletries.
The drive is organized by Two Men And A Truck Everett.
