Don’t pave Mountain Loop Highway if it can’t be maintained

Published 1:30 am Wednesday, April 3, 2019

Regarding the Mountain Loop Highway paving project (“Is it time to pave the Mountain Loop Highway?” The Herald, March 4), the answer is simple: Who maintains the road now? Nobody.

Who will maintain the road when paved? The county has no money. The state has no money. The Forest Service? Forget it. They are broke, too. They can’t even maintain the roads they have. It’s easier to drive on a dirt road’s pot holes than slam into a paved road’s pot holes. Leave it the way it is.
