Hot tickets: What to watch this week in prep sports

Five prep sports events to keep an eye on this week:
Baseball: Monroe at Jackson, 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Bearcats and Timberwolves are tied for second place in Wesco 4A, sitting just one game behind first-place Cascade. Monroe beat Jackson with a 1-0 walk-off win Saturday in the opener of this two-game set.
Softball: Glacier Peak at Jackson, 4 p.m. Wednesday (rescheduled from last week). It’s a rematch of Glacier Peak’s 2-1 win last month, when Ashley Jacobson hit a walkoff home run to beat defending 4A state champion Jackson. The first-place Grizzlies are 7-0 in Wesco 4A play. Jackson is third in the conference standings with a 6-2 league record.
Softball: Anacortes at Lakewood, 4:30 p.m. Thursday. After reaching state last season for the first time since 2001, Lakewood is off to a 13-1 start this spring. This showdown against undefeated Anacortes pits the only two unbeatens in Northwest Conference play.
Softball: Marysville Pilchuck at Marysville Getchell, 4 p.m. Friday. In the midst of the best season in the program’s eight-year history, Marysville Getchell seeks just its second win over crosstown rival Marysville Pilchuck in 13 meetings. Both teams are in the thick of the Wesco 3A/2A title race, with just one loss apiece in conference play.
Boys soccer: King’s at South Whidbey, 6 p.m. Friday. This regular-season finale carries massive North Sound Conference title implications. South Whidbey has a three-point lead atop the conference standings over second-place King’s, having beaten the Knights 2-1 in their first meeting.
Track and field: Shoreline Invitational, 9 a.m. Saturday at Shoreline Stadium. Edmonds-Woodway, Glacier Peak, Jackson, Kamiak, King’s, Mariner, Meadowdale, Monroe, Shorecrest, Shorewood and Stanwood are among the 80-plus teams slated to compete in this 40th annual meet.
