Grant Davis, Monroe baseball
Davis, a senior, hit a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the third inning to blow open the Bearcats’ 9-5 win over Issaquah and clinch the program’s first state berth since 1996.
Jonathan Birchman, Shorewood track and field
Birchman, a junior, posted a time of 38.62 seconds in winning the 300-meter hurdles at the Wesco 3A South Championships at Edmonds Stadium. It’s the second-fastest time in the state this season regardless of classification, according to www.athletic.net.
