BELLEVUE — An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday in Duvall after he allegedly threatened one of his teachers at Bellevue College via email.
As a result of the email, the school’s main and north campuses were evacuated around 3 p.m., according to the Bellevue Police Department.
The threatening email came after an argument on Wednesday involving two students and an instructor at the college, police spokeswoman Meeghan Black said. The suspect was arguing with his teacher when a second student tried to intervene. Following the incident, Black said, the second student felt threatened and reported it to campus security. A police report was also filed.
Police were notified of the threatening email from the suspect to his teacher Thursday afternoon.
“The student made enough of a threat to the school that they wanted to be careful,” Black said. There was no imminent threat, the student was not on campus and the evacuation was just a matter of taking caution, she said.
The campuses remained closed for the rest of the day and Thursday evening, according to a Bellevue College post on Twitter.
Police tracked down the suspect in Duvall, where he has relatives, Black said.He was arrested by Duvall police without incident.
