The Athlete of the Week nominees for May 13-19. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced on next week’s Prep Focus page.

Iyanla De Jesus

Softball | Jackson

De Jesus, a senior, tossed a no-hitter and struck out 15 batters in the Timberwolves’ 2-0 win over Eastlake in Saturday’s 4A Wes-King Bi-District title game. In her team’s four bi-district contests, the right-hander posted 60 strikeouts and allowed just four earned runs and 10 hits in 28 innings.

Justin Huttinger

Jackson | Boys Soccer

Huttinger, a junior goalkeeper, made several key saves late in the game to preserve the Timberwolves’ 2-1 victory over Federal Way on Friday in the Class 4A state quarterfinals.

Jack Johnson

Archbishop Murphy | Baseball

Johnson, a sophomore, went 2-for-4 at the plate with a three-run home run and an RBI double in the Wildcats’ 7-2 win over Ridgefield in the Class 2A state quarterfinals Saturday at Wheeler Field in Centralia.

Alvin Kwak

Kamiak | Boys Golf

Kwak, a senior bound for Columbia University, claimed medalist honors at the 4A Northwest District Championships on Tuesday at Snohomish Golf Course. After shooting a 6-under-par 66 in Monday’s first round, Kwak fired a 75 Tuesday to tie for the overall lead. He then won a four-hole playoff against teammate Joshua Clogston.

Bree Nichols

Snohomish | Girls Track and Field

Nichols, a sophomore, qualified for the state meet in three events — the long jump, the high jump and the triple jump — at the 3A Northwest District Championships last week at Shoreline Stadium. Nichols is the only girl in the 2A/3A/4A state meet to qualify in all three events.

Brynna Schmidt

Monroe | Girls Tennis

Schmidt, a senior, recovered from a 0-6 defeat in the first set of the 4A Northwest District final to beat Kamiak’s Leah Robison 0-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Ethan Willems

Glacier Peak | Boys Track and Field

Willems, a junior, won the 200 and the 400 during Friday’s 3A Northwest District Championships at Shoreline Stadium. Willems, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL, set a meet record in the 400 with a time of 48.5 seconds, and won the 200 in 22.28.

Haley Wong

Shorewood | Girls Golf

Wong, a junior, shot back-to-back rounds of 78 last week to win the 36-hole 3A Northwest District tournament at Walter Hall Golf Course.
