Jeep linked to pedestrian hit-and-run found — but not driver

EVERETT — A Jeep believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run was found at a home near Mariner High School. Detectives hope to speak with a driver suspected of hitting a teenager.

A boy, 17, was hit around 9:40 a.m. Monday near the intersection of 124th Street SW and Fourth Avenue W, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

A driver in a tan Jeep Wrangler reportedly fled the scene. Witnesses, who saw the Jeep from the rear, were not able to give deputies the license plate number, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

With the help of security footage, a tan Jeep Wrangler with no back license plate was later found in a garage in the 100 block of 119th Street SE, Ireton said Thursday. That’s a few hundred feet from where the vehicle was last seen.

The Mariner High School student’s injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office is still seeking witnesses, and any information about the Jeep owner’s whereabouts. Tips can be directed to 425-388-3845.
