A pair of last-second 3-pointers highlighted a compelling week of local high school basketball that featured a number of down-to-the-wire finishes.

In the closing seconds of a non-league contest last Wednesday, Everett junior Taras Fesiienko swished a game-winning 3-pointer to lift the Seagulls to a 60-59 non-league road win over Lake Stevens.

In another tight non-league clash last Friday, Jackson senior Jaylen Searles hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 8.7 seconds remaining in regulation to key a 65-55 overtime victory over Meadowdale. Searles’ overtime-forcing 3-pointer completed a nine-point fourth-quarter comeback for the Timberwolves, who then outscored Meadowdale 10-0 in the extra period.
