Prep stars of the night for Saturday, Jan. 18:
Wyatt Hall, Lakes Stevens boys wrestling
Hall, a senior, pinned Mount Spokane’s Kingston Grey in just 45 seconds to claim first place in the 285-pound weight class at the Viking Invite at Cavalero Mid-High School. Hall was the only Viking who placed first at the tournament, which featured several powerhouse wrestling programs from around the state.
Isaac Poole, Shorewood boys swim and dive
Poole, a senior, was the top finisher at the first District 1 Dive Qualifier of the season, posting an 11-dive score of 554.35. Poole qualified for the state meet and finished 171.3 points in front of his nearest competitor.
Madi Marshall, Snohomish girls wrestling
Marshall, a junior, won all three of her matches by pinfall on her way to a 190-pound championship at the Lady Hawk Invite at Mountlake Terrace High School.
Riley Hoople, Granite Falls boys wrestling
Hoople, a sophomore ranked third at 113 pounds in Class 1A by Washington Wrestling Report, beat Edmonds-Woodway’s Baylor Denkinger, a junior ranked third in 3A at 113 pounds by Washington Wrestling Report, with a 15-11 decision to claim first place at 113 pounds at the Marysville Premier tournament at Marysville Pilchuck High School.
Austin Davis, Marysville Pilchuck boys wrestling
Davis, a senior ranked third in 3A at 126 pounds by Washington Wrestling Report, won a 10-8 decision over Bethel’s Ryan Brown, a senior ranked first at 3A in the same weight class by Washington Wrestling Report, to claim first place at 126 pounds at the Marysville Premier tournament.
Claudia Rojas-Guzmen, Cascade girls wrestling
Rojas-Guzmen, a senior, won the 110-pound weight class at the Lads and Lasses Invite at Fife High School.
Sam Sylliaasen, Granite Falls boys basketball
Sylliaasen, a senior, recorded a double-double with 28 points and 13 rebounds in the Tigers’ 61-58 loss to Port Townsend.
Bashaun Williams, Darrington boys basketball
Williams, a senior, poured in 25 points in the Loggers’ 60-36 win over Shoreline Christian.
Ethan Martin, Arlington boys basketball
Martin, a sophomore, drilled five 3-pointers in the first quarter as Arlington raced out to a 24-6 lead in its 60-50 victory over Lynnwood. Martin finished with 21 points.
