INDEX — A rock climber suffered head and possible spinal injuries in a 15-foot fall Thursday at a popular climbing spot near Index, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, 20, fell around 3 p.m. at a lower part of the Index Town Wall, a craggy face of rock just north of the Skykomish River.

At one point she was reportedly “dangling” from a rope, but she was able to get to a ledge, sheriff’s Lt. David Hayes said.

A helicopter rescue team was called in and she was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, the sheriff’s office said in a tweet.

“Her injuries are still being assessed, but she was conscious,” the tweet said.
