Shots fired in parking lot puts Mariner High on brief lockdown

EVERETT — Shots were fired in the Mariner High School parking lot Monday afternoon, sending the school into a brief lockdown, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
A juvenile fired shots at a car in the parking lot south of Everett before running away, according to the sheriff’s office. No one was reported injured. The lockdown, lifted around 4 p.m., came during after-school activities. Mariner students are dismissed at 2 p.m.
The incident led to a large police presence near the high school. Deputies searched for the suspected shooter with a police dog.
Deputies couldn’t find the suspect as of 4 p.m. Police believed he was no longer in the immediate area of the school. The suspect and the victim were believed to be known to each other.
The investigation remained active.
