LYNNWOOD — A business on Highway 99 sustained heavy damage in a suspected arson Wednesday morning north of Lynnwood.

The fire at the warehouse-style building in the 15800 block of the highway was reported around 3:15 a.m., South County Fire spokesperson Leslie Hynes said. When fire crews arrived, flames were coming through the roof of the building.

It was under control as of 5:30 a.m., according to South County Fire.

A sunroom and decking company’s portion of the building was heavily damaged, with the roof partially collapsed, Hynes said. No damage estimate was available. Fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to other businesses in the building, including a paint company and auto repair shop.

There were no injuries. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office on Wednesday announced they believe the fire was intentionally set and would be investigated as an arson.

Traffic was blocked in both directions between 156th and 164th streets SW in the morning. The northbound lanes opened around 6:30 a.m. A southbound lane opened around 7 a.m., Hynes said.
