Six displaced in Edmonds, Lynnwood house fires

LYNNWOOD — Six people were displaced but unharmed after house fires in Edmonds and Lynnwood.

The home in the 5200 block of 172nd Street SW in Lynnwood happened around 6 p.m. Saturday. Two adults and three children escaped without injury from the fire that engulfed the garage, according to South County Fire.

Firefighters kept flames from spreading to the rest of the home, which was damaged by smoke estimated at $235,000.

A home in the 8300 block of 218th Street SW of Edmonds caught fire around 5 a.m., when the resident called 911 to report smelling smoke and hearing crackling sounds from the attic, according to South County Fire.

He escaped without injury.

Firefighters kept the flames to the attic, with damage estimated at $250,000.

The American Red Cross was helping the residents.

The causes of the fires were under investigation.
