EVERETT — A Seattle woman, 28, was arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting south of Everett.
Around 4 a.m., deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 13200 block of Highway 99, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived to find two people shot in a car along the highway, sheriff’s spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said. The woman in the driver’s seat had a gunshot wound in her bicep, and the male passenger’s face was skimmed by a bullet, according to a police report.
The driver was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. The man’s injury was not serious and he declined aid. They reported the shooter fled on foot, O’Keefe said.
State troopers received a request from the sheriff’s office to help set up a perimeter and search for the suspect, Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding said.
An Everett police dog tracked down a woman about a block from the shooting, O’Keefe said. She was reportedly carrying a 9 mm firearm, tucked into the spandex underneath her dress, according to the police report. The gun had a spent round jammed in the firing chamber and no serial number, the report said.
Officers asked where she was coming from, and the woman reportedly gestured in the direction of the shooting. Police recovered the weapon and detained her. State troopers arrived at the scene 20 minutes later and arrested the suspect. She was booked into Snohomish County Jail.
This was the third shooting in Everett over the weekend. Both of the other shootings were on Colby Avenue.
The woman had no felony criminal history. In court Monday, Everett District Court Judge Tam Bui found probable cause for two counts of first-degree assault and set bail at $30,000.
