HILLSBORO, Ore. — Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hillsboro Hops scored three runs on a base hit, a balk and a throwing error on a pickoff attempt and held on to beat the Everett AquaSox 3-1 on Thursday night at Ron Tonkin Field.

Everett took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run from Walking Cabrera, his first of the season, in the top of the third inning.

A slew of AquaSox miscues on the bottom of the sixth gave the lead to the Hops.

With two on and no outs, Shane Muntz singled to score Kevin Graham and J.J. D’Orazio advanced to third on a throwing error by Ben Ramirez. D’Orazio then walked home on a balk by Jimmy Kingsbury.

Muntz advanced to third on an infield single by Gavin Logan and then scored on a throwing error by Peyton Alford, who entered to relieve Kingsbury, on a pickoff attempt to give Hillsboro a 3-1 lead.

Bernie Martinez started and allowed only one hit in three innings, and Alberto Rodriguez tripled for Everett (1-4), which lost its fourth straight game after a season-opening win.

Dylan Ray struck out six and allowed just one run on three hits in 5.1 innings for Hillsboro (5-1).
