Whether you receive a paper bill through the mail or view it on our MySnoPUD app, all PUD electric and water customers receive a bill that details their usage each month. But decoding your energy or water usage and billing can be a little confusing.

Recently, the PUD redesigned the format of its bill to make it easier and clearer to read. We made some changes to the design and layout with the most important information now displayed at the top in an easy-to-read format. It’s important that PUD customers know how to decipher their bill, so they understand their usage, what they’re being charged for and, ultimately, how to pay their bill.

Another reason for the change was to help our customers as we begin to exchange electric and water meters later this summer through our Connect Up program. Our new advanced meters — which will be installed to every commercial and residential customer throughout Snohomish County over the next few years — will be able to show customers’ energy usage in 15-minute intervals, which will be available for you to see on your bill and in the MySnoPUD app.

With the new bills hitting mailboxes and inboxes this month, we wanted to walk you through the new layout of the bill, as well as point you where to go if you have any questions about your bill or electricity service.

Here are the major sections of the newly revamped bills:

The most important information — the amount due and the due date — is now in the top corner of the bill.

Icons and information highlight many ways to pay your bill. Please choose the easiest option for you.

The Message Center — where we display important information about rates or billing — is easier to find and read.

A quick bill summary is displayed on the front of the bill. This shows your prior bill — and payment date — as well as your most recent charge.

The payment stub has moved from the top to the bottom and more clearly displays the amount due and due date.

More in-depth bill details are now on the back of the bill and show your usage per kilowatt hour as well as any additional taxes or charges.

If you receive a bill in an e-mail, on MySnoPUD, or the MySnoPUD app, all of the above information will be displayed on your Dashboard, or by clicking “View/Pay Bill.” If you currently receive a paper bill and are interested in switching to paperless, there is more information on our website: www.snopud.com/paperless. Going paperless helps us save money on mailing costs so that we can continue to keep rates reasonable.

Our goal is to make billing and payment as easy and streamlined for our customers as possible. If you have any questions, our customer service representatives are here to help. Just call 425-783-1000 to speak to someone who can help clarify any questions you may have about your utility service.
