EVERETT — A downed wire cut power to nearly 1,000 customers Thursday south of downtown Everett.

The outage started at 12:30 p.m. and seemed to affect addresses within a few blocks of Evergreen Way, which turns into Rucker Avenue, from 35th Street to 52nd Street SE. Cars were taking turns crossing intersections along Evergreen, a major route through Everett.

PUD spokesperson Aaron Swaney said the wire was down near 43rd Street and Rucker, with an unknown cause.

Crews were working to isolate the outage. Most customers were expected to have power back around 2 p.m., he said, with all customers predicted to have power by 4 p.m.

Light snow mixed with rain was drifting through Everett at the time of the outage.

Wind gusts were about 21 mph, and the temperature was just below freezing, according to the National Weather Service.
