I don’t see Christian nationalists in churches I know

Herald Columnist Tom Burke’s ignorant and vitriolic accusations against so-called Christian nationalists should not go unanswered. I’ve been a Christian for over 50 years now and have attended many churches in various cities and states over that time. I’ve never once heard a pastor preach Christian nationalism from the pulpit, and I’ve never met a self-identified Christian nationalist in any of those churches. It’s true there could be such a group out there, but I’m guessing a handful. I had never heard of the idea until recently reading the hysterical liberal media. I am sure Burke would try hard to find such a church out of the hundreds of thousands out there.

Christians are not a monolithic group across the country. Like other groups, they vary widely in what they think of the issues. Some are more conservative than others. Within churches, there are disagreements. Burke paints with a wide brush to condemn Christians, in general. It reminds me of the frightening current wave of antisemitism by liberals.

Remember, Christians adopt children, minister in jails and prisons, run clothing and food banks, and operate homeless shelters, to name a few. I think we are a blessing and help to society. Burke should stop dividing people; maybe The Herald would attract more readers.

By the way, I am unapologetic ally voting for Trump.
