Lakewood 10, Archbishop Murphy 1

SEDRO-WOOLLEY — The fourth-seeded Lakewood High School softball team advanced with a win over No . 6 Archbishop Murphy in the first game of a Class 2A District 1 tournament doubleheader.

Avalon Kummer went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, while Maddy Holthaus, Katie Krueger and Every Hite each had two hits.

Krueger pitched all seven innings in the circle, giving up five hits with nine strikeouts and a walk.

The Wildcats ended their season 5-17 overall.

Burlington-Edison 15, Lakewood 5 (5)

SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Avalon Kummer delivered a 3-for-3 performance at the plate, doubling twice with two runs scored, but Lakewood’s season ended with a loss to second-seeded Burlington-Edison in the second leg of a Class 2A District 1 loser-out doubleheader.

EmmaJoy Wise homered and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Skylar Sobitz also had a home run.

The Cougars finished the year 15-7.

BOYS SOCCER

Class 3A State (Round 2, loser out)

Edmonds-Woodway 6, Mead 2

CENTRAL KITSAP —Alex Plumis netted two goals, adding an assist as seventh-seeded Edmonds-Woodway defeated No. 10 Mead in a Class 3A state tournament game.

Richard Duncan contributed a goal and two assists, while Joey Dornay, Andrew Montero and Anand Raghu all scored for the Warriors (14-3-3).

Edmonds-Woodway will square off against No. 15 Ballard on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Central Kitsap High School.
