STANWOOD — The Spartans moved to 10-1 overall in a dominant showing. TJ McQuery led the offense with two RBI on a 3-for-4 day while Gavin Gehrman (0-for-2) paced Stanwood’s scoring with two runs. Tanner Requa pitched a complete game for the Spartans, allowing six hits to four Ks as Stanwood’s defense earned an errorless shutout. Connor Clifton (2-for-3) put the exclamation point on the win, hitting a solo home run in the fifth to push the lead to eight.

Mount Vernon 6, Everett 2

MOUNT VERNON — The Seagulls dropped to 5-7 after falling behind 4-0 in the second inning. Luca Morales (3-for-4) and Jack Franklin (0-for-2) each scored a run for Everett while Owen Brunning (2-for-4) and Mac Larsen (0-for-3) had an RBI each.

COUPEVILLE — The Loggers fell in the first game of a doubleheader against conference foe Coupeville due in part to a 1-for-21 day from the plate. Grady Stuvland (0-for-2) opened the day’s scoring in the first, reaching home on a passed ball. In the end, four stolen bases and two extra base hits for the Wolves led to Darrington’s demise.

GAME TWO — The Loggers (1-5 overall, 0-4 league) found some offense in the final leg of the doubleheader — but so did the Wolves. Coupeville managed just five hits, but stole eight bases and were hit by five pitches to get on base consistently. Quentin Stewart (1-for-2) brought in three runs as five Loggers scored in the loss.
