EVERETT — An Everett woman is accused of multiple felonies for allegedly setting her husband’s home on fire earlier this year.

On Tuesday, police arrested the 49-year-old woman on suspicion of first-degree arson and residential burglary in connection to a March house fire in Everett, court documents said.

The Everett Fire Department initially responded to a two-story house on fire in the 7300 block of Olympic Drive on the night of March 18, according to a social media post.

Firefighters needed more than an hour to put out the fire, court documents said. The response was hampered after several unidentified explosions were heard inside the home, the department said at the time.

No one was hurt, but the home was deemed a total loss and a neighboring home was also damaged, court records said.

During an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, Everett police received security camera footage from a neighbor that showed a black SUV parked at the end of the home’s driveway just minutes before the fire, according to court documents.

A large flash of fire was caught on video after someone left the vehicle and walked up to the home, investigators said. The driver quickly left the area as smoke and fire began to show from the home, records said.

Officers determined the homeowner’s wife drove a SUV similar to the one seen near the home, documents said. Court records said the couple was in the midst of a divorce and the woman had moved out of the home a month earlier.

Police received a search warrant for cell phone data from the woman’s phone and determined she was near the home in the time leading up to and after the fire, according to court records.

Investigators believe the woman set the fire in the home’s laundry room using an ignitable liquid or some other flammable material, court records said.

She was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Tuesday and is awaiting an initial appearance in court.
