MONROE — Brandon Gundersen scored 10 of his game-high 24 points in the second quarter as Monroe opened up a 10-point halftime lead and held off a late Royals charge to win the Wesco 4A contest. Gundersen also grabbed seven rebounds, Samuel LaPine hit three 3-pointers and Andrew Chartrand had four steals for the Bearcats. Cordell Smith paced the Royals with 12 points.
