OAK HARBOR — It took a half for the Oak Harbor offense to get things going, but once it did the Wildcats couldn’t be stopped.

JoJo Webster caught two touchdown passes in the third quarter and Isaiah Trower ripped off a a 77-yard TD run in the fourth as the Wildcats turned a 3-0 halftime deficit into a convincing 27-3 win over the Snohomish Panthers.

“Snohomish started really aggressive on defense,” Oak Harbor offensive coordinator Mike Fisher said. “But Peter Esvelt, our offensive-line coach, made a great adjustment at halftime and our front-five started blocking.”

Oak Harbor trailed after the Panthers took a first quarter lead on Collin Shelton’s 22-yard field goal.

However the Wildcats’ defense shutout the Panthers the rest of the way, holding Snohomish to just 59 yards rushing.

“Our defense was off the charts, just knocking them around,” said Fisher.

Oak Harbor took the lead on Ian Kilste’s four-yard TD pass to Webster in the third and the pair hooked up again later in the quarter.

Webster caught a slip screen, made a move in the middle of the field and outraced all the defenders for a 74-yard score.

Trower’s long run and a 24-yard rushing touchdown by Dakota Sinchak in the fourth ensured Oak Harbor would win the season-opener.
