BOTHELL — A 38-year-old man suffered serious injuries Monday when a horse arena he was dismantling on his property collapsed, causing a truss to fall on him, Snohomish County Fire District 1 reported.
Neighbors in the 20200 block of S Danvers Road heard the noise from the collapse and called 911 at 8:35 a.m. after they found the man with his left leg pinned under the 70-foot truss, Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
Firefighters used high-pressure inflatable air bags to lift the steel truss off the man’s leg, Hynes said. Paramedics took the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His injuries are considered life-threatening.
The 75-by-100-foot arena had been stripped down to mostly wood and steel framing at the time, she said. The man was the only person inside.
