MILL CREEK — Stanwood’s Megan LaLone beat Kamiak’s Sally Park to win the 4A District 1 singles title and Alyssa and Jenna Gilbert of Kamiak beat teammates Annie Yang and Zoe Jovanovich to win the doubles title at the 4A District Girls Tennis Championships at Jackson High School on Wednesday.

It’s the fourth year in a row that LaLone will be going to the state tournament and after two runner-up finishes over the past two years the Spartans player is looking for her first state title.

Marysville Pilchuck’s Sarah Tuemmler beat Myint-Zu Kyaw for third place and the Edmonds-Woodway’s doubles team of Hanna Rehnfeldt and Mikala Valdez fought their way through the consolation bracket to take third. Both third-place finishers will play the Kingco third-place finishers at 3 p.m. Friday at Jackson H.S. for the final state tournament berth.
