GRANITE FALLS — With 15 seconds left, Granite Falls Drew Benson connected with a lay-up to clinch the Cascade Conference win. A running, contested 3-point attempt by Cedarcrest at the buzzer bounced off the backboard as time expired to seal the victory for the Tigers.
“I’d say the biggest lead was roughly five points the entire game,” said Granite Falls coach Jim Wilson.
In addition to the clutch lay-up by Benson, Jarek Hitchcock knocked down two free throws two minutes remaining in the final period to put the Tigers ahead to stay.
Hitchcock finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Granite Falls senior forward Shawn Madigan finished with five assists, eight rebounds and 26 points to lead all scorers.
Cedarcrest was led by the output of guard Zach Taylor, who scored 12 of his team high 21 points in the 4th quarter.
