Lots of goings on today.

First off, Friday night’s game against the Tri-City Americans is Pink the Rink night at Comcast Arena. The Tips, in conjunction with Providence Comprehensive Breast Center, are doing their part to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Therefore, there will be a strong pink theme at the game. Fans are encouraged to attend wearing pink garb. The Tips will be wearing special pink-trimmed jerseys during the game, and those jerseys are being auctioned off and will be presented to the winners following the game. The team is also selling autographed pink hockey sticks, and 100 percent of the night’s chuck-a-puck and program sales are being donated to Providence General Foundation.

Full information for Pink the Rink can be found at the Silvertips website.

Secondly, Fox Sports Northwest has released its WHL broadcast schedule for this season. The Tips will be shown four times this season, including the first broadcast of the season on Jan. 14 at Seattle. Everett’s televised games are:

Friday, Jan. 14, Everett at Seattle, 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 2, Everett at Kamloops, 10 p.m. (delayed)

Friday, Feb. 25, Portland at Everett, 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Mar. 18, Everett at Portland, 7 p.m.

A total of 10 games are being broadcast by FSN. A full schedule can be found on the WHL website.

It’s great to see the Tips getting more regional exposure this season. Unfortunately, only one of those games is useful for live blogging purposes, as I’ll be at the games in Everett and Seattle and the Kamloops game is tape delayed. Ah well.

Finally, some news on Everett’s injury front. Defenseman Alex Theriau, who missed the past three games because of a groin strain, has practiced at full speed this week and should be good to go Friday. Center Clayton Cumiskey and winger Markus McCrea, who are recovering from concussions, have also resumed practicing with the team. Therefore, there’s a chance the Tips could be at full strength against the Americans.

Tri-City will not be at full strength. Center Brendan Shinnimin, who led the team in scoring last season, will be serving game nine of his 12-game suspension for his boarding major taken against Saskatoon’s Josh Nicholls. Center Kruise Reddick, who’s missed six games because of a concussion, is listed as day to day.
