A new place for artists to gather in Everett

Something interesting is brewing at 33rd and Broadway. It’s called 3231 Creatives and its founders, James and Iris Lemmer, say they want to draw together artists and artisans under one roof.

So far, a guitar maker and several visual artists have set up shop in the old building. The owner of Everett’s Zippy Java Lounge plans to start a new coffee shop there too in the next several weeks.

I talked with the Lemmers earlier this week. They live in Kirland and learned about the building when the city drove Seattle area artists around town in a bus last fall, hoping to encourage some of them to relocate to Everett. The Lemmers don’t own the building, but they are working on bringing in more artists and other small cottage businesses.
